Method 1: Check Status Online
Go to https://srd.sassa.gov.za. Ensure you're on the official .gov.za domain.
Find the "Application Status" or "Check Your Status" section on the homepage.
Enter your 13-digit South African ID number exactly as it appears on your ID document.
Enter the cellphone number you used when applying for the grant.
Enter the CAPTCHA characters or answer the simple math question.
Your current application status will be displayed on screen.
Understanding Your Status
- Approved: Your application has been successful
- Pending: Your application is still being processed
- Rejected: Your application was not approved
- Awaiting Banking Details: You need to provide/verify banking information
- Paid: Payment has been made to your account
Method 2: Check via WhatsApp
Save 082 046 8553 in your phone contacts.
The automated chatbot will respond with a menu of options.
Reply with the number corresponding to "Check my SRD grant status".
Send your 13-digit ID number when prompted.
You'll receive a message with your current application status.
Method 3: Check via USSD
Dial *134*7737# on your cellphone and follow the prompts.
Method 4: Check via Email
Email GrantEnquiries@sassa.gov.za with your ID number and full name. Include "Status Check" in the subject line.

Never pay anyone to check your SASSA status. The official services are FREE. SASSA will never ask for your PIN, password, or bank details via WhatsApp or SMS.
Common Problems and Solutions
"ID Number Not Found"
- Check that you entered the ID number correctly
- Ensure you're using the same phone number you applied with
- Wait at least 7 days after applying before checking status
Website Not Loading
- Try during off-peak hours (early morning or late evening)

SASSA Payment Dates 2026
✅ SASSA pays all grants in the FIRST WEEK of each month (1st - 7th).
📅 How it works:
- Payments start on the 1st if it's a weekday
- If the 1st is a weekend, payments start on the following Monday
- All grants are paid within the first 7 days
📅 SRD R350 Grant: Paid separately from 23rd-28th each month

- February: Paid Monday 2nd - Friday 6th (1st was Sunday)

- August: Paid Monday 3rd - Friday 7th (1st was Saturday)
- November: Paid Monday 2nd - Friday 6th (1st was Sunday)
- All other months: Paid 1st - 5th/6th
